Mawgan Porth Cornwall June 2010

We got an early start in and thought we would drive all the way to Cornwall and aim for Mawgan Porth near Newquay. This was a bit ambitious and we ended up stopping off at Mortonhampstead in Devon and camping on our family's lawn for the night. The next morning we set off for a proper old fashioned campsite with a truly awful website -Marver Holiday Park. That would explain why this little gem of a campsite had pitches available, even though the one next door (Magic Cove) had been booked up for months. Marver had very basic loos and showers and a strange"70s swingers" style sauna complex with cobwebs everywhere - should have taken some pictures! A great little spot, 200 yds from the beach and shops/pubs.

View of Mawgan Porth beach - near Watergate Bay
Beautiful sunset on our first night there

Day on the beach at Mawgan Porth followed by a beer and tea at the Merry Moor Inn. Check out their webcam.

One day we caught the bus into Newquay. Mawgan Porth is halfway between there and Pdstow. It was pot luck the bus was going to Newquay. And it was a double decker so the views were great even though it was a bit hair raising.
Here's some pics taken in our fave Newquay bar - Belushi's.

Followed by a walk over to Fistral Beach before we headed back to our campsite.
